One million penguins, towering icebergs and one of the most remote regions on Earth: in November 2025, the research vessel Malizia Explorer set sail for the Danger Islands in Antarctica. On board were Team Malizia skipper Boris Herrmann, seven scientists, four sailors and three journalists. The ZDF documentary Mission Penguin – Sailing to Antarctica now brings this extraordinary expedition to the screen. The documentary is available now in German on the ZDF Mediathek and will be broadcast on ZDF on Sunday, 8 November 2026, at 4.15 pm. An English-subtitled version is planned for release at a later date.
