The gamble didn’t pay off: Team Malizia crossed the finish line of today’s Aarhus In-Port Race in fourth place, after a race lead from start to finish by Biotherm. Skippered by Boris Herrmann and crewed by Will Harris, Rosalin Kuiper, and Axelle Pillain, with Antoine Auriol as onboard reporter, Team Malizia is still second in the In-Port Race Series and prepares for the upcoming Leg 6 of The Ocean Race.

With an average speed of 26.71 knots (50 km/h) over 24 hours in Leg 5 of The Ocean Race, Boris Herrmann’s Team Malizia has gained a new monohull world record sailing 641.13 nautical miles over 24 hours.

The teams are setting a new speed monohull records! 🚀  Team Malizia was the last of the leading trio to enter the 'record run' conditions and the team is starting to post impressive stats. Team Malizia has won the Newport In-Port Race! The team passed through the leaving gate in first position after a neck and neck battle with 11th Hour Racing Team, and therefore won two out of four In-Port Races in this edition of The Ocean Race. The fleet has now set sail for a 3,500 nautical mile-long Leg 5 towards Aarhus, Denmark.

Leg 5 of The Ocean Race starts this Sunday 21 May at 14:15 local time (18:15 UTC, 20:15 CEST) and will see Team Malizia race towards Aarhus, Denmark. This 3,500 nautical mile transatlantic race back to Europe counts for double points, and 3 teams including Team Malizia are currently only separated by one point at the top of the scoreboard. Boris Herrmann is back as skipper and confident in Team Malizia’s chances at scoring a strong result.
